1st Chinese New Year at new nest

Just a plain excuse. Really got no mood to blog about nest or kiddos. I'm getting extremely lazy. It is the fault of online screening! With clicks of mouse, I could access to many favourite movies and korean/japanese dramas. What a luxury!

Nevertheless, it is our first celebration of chinese new year at our new nest. I got to load up some pictures, just for the record :)

Finally Moved In!

Thousands apology for the overdued update, folks. We managed to clear the 'battlefield' at the old flat and moved in to the new one with over 30 boxes! This is nothing when compared to the stuffs we have thrown away. Simply Unbelieveable! How could a small family of 4 be stuffing so much junks at home? And I thought we are rather neat & tidy already :P Shocking...

Our initial plan was to hire a mover to settle the shifting in one day. But alas, the packing could not be completed in time. We made many trips to and fro, to clear whatever we had packed. Items shifted were also randomly stacked at the new place. Everything was in a BIG mess :( Very demoralising indeed.

Well, at least we could find a decent place to sleep, among those boxes :P That was it. All done by 28 October 2008. Since then, I have spent countless nights to do unpacking of boxes and organising of stuffs. TOTAL DRAG!! :(

Not forgetting to mention, hubby was recalled for re-service to the Army from 3 November 2008. That was the same day as our boy began his first day at the new care center :( So how? Who to ferry the children ?Me and my shadow

Anyway, I could still manange between walking, MRT & bus. But not without sacrifies... my 2 pairs of heels had surrendered after days of rushing :( Never mind, just another reason I could have to do more shopping!

Meanwhile, some pictures of my children's rooms (in kiddo's wall borders) and the wall decals I got from Taobao.com. Simply lvoe floral designs, me very auntie hor...

Last 2 pictures show the kingsized storage bedframe we got from Nova furnishing and diamond mattress from Seahorse. The bed is extremely firm and you can feel no movement when your spouse is tossing during the night. Great for me as I am very light sleeper :P

Let there be LIGHTS!!

Finally our carpentry is completed (ok, not really. our MBR tv feature wall not yet started) Our electrician, Mr Ong has put up the three chandeliers and tied up some other loose ends. Our final wiring bill: S$1200. This is 30%+ cheaper than what our ID has offered and also not including the many extra points we added. The first mini crystal lights is at Foyer. It greets me as soon as I enter our new home :) Second to see is our dining chandelier. It is the same light that made me drool in excitement... so victiorian, I like! Last but not least, our shine at the living area. My tv-watching will never be the same again. yeah! (BTW, the paper wrap not yet removed :P)

For window-treatment, we decided to get roller blinds from Ikea - the cheaper option to 'clothes' the glasses :P At 1200mm wide, it costs S$39 and S$29 for 800mm wide. We got the purple (brownish purple) and white blinds. These are the only choices other than black and grey :( But what to do, when the budget is tiny, the choice is limited lah >_< Mr Ong was there to help put them up. That saved us lots of effort.

Next, we would like to present our L-shape sofa! Tadaaaa!
But sad to say, hubby has rejected the honrizontal unit as he found some wood defects. Red Apple will be here on wednesday to check on the complaint and make replacement. Though this company does not have much good review. AT least my order is delivered on time. In fact, we have to delay the delivery as our home was not ready that time. So we shall see how they would handle this complaint and give our fair feedback about this Rotten... oops, Red Apple :p

And our LCD TV has also arrived and installed onto our custom-made feature wall. So now, our living room looks like this: (SWEE BO ;P)

Last update, our goodrich wallpaper has been installed on Monday afternoon. The fitter is really skilled and swift in movement. The whole installation took about an hour and there went our S$700 :P The final result? WE LOVE IT :-*

more update soon... stay tune :)

Grilles & Aircon

Just realised that there is no update on the installation of grilles and aircon :P Managed to gather these pictures in slides. We used the grilles contact from Smart Saver programme on Channel U: Wellmax. It offered the best rate among 3 other quotes. Since the materials used were actually similar, we took the cheapest lah :D
According to hubby, they were professional in taking measurement. Many only measured the length and width of the required window area. Wellmax took at least 4 measurement for each window: from 2 edges and at center of each panel. Think it might due to 'super-good quality of HDB windows'. Some panels might not be at right angled :P Anyway, the end result was satisfactory or should we say VERY GOOD, especially when we knew it was about 35% cheaper than what our ID offered :P

As for aircon, we bought a Carrier system 3 for 3 bedrooms and a system 2 for living/dining area from All Best. This company was not very recommended by most forums for the hidden trunking costs etc. But we went ahead with it as the package price was very attractive. We did make sure that no additional cost could be added on the agreement (invoice). Workmanship was good and the fitters were easy to cham-siong (negotiate). They were fast and no nonsense when we got them to reposition the trunking (as the initial location would be occupied by full height shoes cabinets).
The end result, cold cold airconditioning for new house. YEAH! Hope it would cool enough during big-crowd gathering... fingers-crossed. One flaw, me felt that blower design was really CMI, abit old fashion hor... but can't help it. Got to save $$$$$

Carpentry Work

We found this carpenter from the forum. Pretty well-recommended and the offer was within our budget and of course, way cheaper than what our ID had offered :P Actually, at this budget, we would not dare to wish for fancy laminates and superb workmanship. As long as the items we needed are affordable, we are OK :P

Maybe this not-so-high-expectation brought about the pleasant surprise! Pictures said them all...

We love the workmanship and the customer service. The carpenter David Chong (John & Dav) never even blinked when I requested to change the laminate of the MBR wardrobe to a leather-like design when the item had actually been fixed up :P Well, the initial laminate did not turn out well, it was not my fault...ok, abit of my fault... but... :P >_<

In the end, we stretched our budget and requested for a tv-feature wall for the MBR and dividers (at the foyer)... Still waiting for the prices...fingers-crossed :)
